Day 1 of Culture Class (AOB/ICR)

Well today was a full, and interesting day.
So today started earrrrrrrly this morning when the kids decided the 'nap' was over at 5 am. Yup.
We all got up (me w/ 2 hours of sleep) and started the day. Showers, and getting ready in general.
We left the room about 6:45 am to catch a 6:50 am bus to the Childcare place. We were unsure of the distance and so on.
Well, we rode it 3 stops, and had to get off... we missed the stop!! Yup. everyone we spoke with says that walking takes forever, and taxi's/buses are the way to go. Well, we found it way easier and enjoyable to walk. The plus is it's not far to get places!! The map makes it look far, but really... it's not.
So we back tracked to the childcare area and enrolled Olivia & Evan and left. Easy Easy!!
We walked to the Building that holds the class, and we were right on time.
I have to say, the class is 'been there, done that' and so,...... i was falling asleep. But, i heald it together, and dealt.
The time Ethan and i spent together was SUPER Enjoyable... and i loved it!!
During our 1.5 hour lunch break we walked into the Commissary and NEX.
I have to say the Hario Commissary is newer feeling, and bigger... seriously!!! (Hario being Sasebo Japan's Small family housing base)
Anyways, its got what we need... and i am grateful for that. We also have a deli and that's a huge plus.
We went to the NEX and bought a phone (YEA!!!) and now we have 'hotel phone' hooked up in case someone from the base needs to call (housing) ..... and now we also have our vonage phone hooked up too. :)
After lunch we had more class.
The class let out about 3:20 pm ish and we went ahead and walked over to get the kids.
They were playing outside, and were very happy.
Olivia said she had a great day, and Evan was happy too.
They told me Evan cried for me after his nap, and that Olivia helped calm him down. Also they aid they had a good 2 hour nap... both of them, and they were very hard to wake up. haha
After we got them, we walked back to the room so Ethan could change out of his uniform.
We decided to take the base bus for a tour of the base. So we rode the entire route, and got to see the rest of the base, and all the ships.
It was interesting.
We rode the bus back to the starting point for us, the hotel. Directly next door is 'Chili's' and we decided to eat there.
We got a table with a water view, and it was very nice.
Unfortunately the kids were asleep in the booth with us, ... after they started their meal... but before ours.
So, we had our food packed to go, and we carried them back to the hotel.
(what a hike with a kid asleep on your hip!)
Oh, and carrying a bag of food. hehe
We got back to the room, and layed them down... we ate our dinner, and Ej hit the sack while i typed this and was out in minutes.
I am having long blinks myself, and this its time for bed....
photo's tomorrow?
i will try and upload them...
Oh and ... we have a housing appt on Tuesday (1 week) please pray for God's will. :) thank you!!!

It's 3 am [JPN time]

So today was out 1st full day in Japan. What did we do??
We woke up and ate some breakfast, the kids did anyways. Oatmeal to be specific. Ethan ran down to the lobby vending machine and bought us some BOSS coffee. It was hot and gooooood!!
Ethan had meetings and checking in stuff to do, so the kids and i decided to chill at the hotel.
We played and i made come calls and mostly just played referee.
Around 12 noon i decided to have the kids nap, we were all still so tired. I also layed down with them. And obviously my hubb-ster decided to lay down too, when he came back around 3 pm. Well we all slept till almost 10 pm!!! We got up and realized that the kids were going to be up all night and that we had no food in the mini fridge, and that they were hungry.
So, i rushed down stairs and found out the mini mart is open until 11 pm. We all got dressed and picked our dinners, and some breakfast stuff.
We came back to the room, and ate... the kids watched 2 movies and we put them to bed at 2:15 ish. Yup........ haha. Crazy for me, if you ask anyone!!
I guess to be technical we are 'napping' because we have to be up and roaring to go @ 6 am for our walk/bus/taxi ride (we have yet to decide) Attend the Cultural Classes that are required. (The kids will be in childcare all week........... yup Olivia too. She will start again, in 1st grade next Monday.)
So, the picture is he view outside our hotel window, ... it's night time of course.
Its 3:06 am........... bed time!!

Off we go!!

This was our last morning in the states. Our best friends cooked us a good-bye breakfast........mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...........home made breads, fruits & eggs... also coffee/juice and mmmmmmmmm i could eat that meal again right now!!!
Also they helped us to the airport. (We needed it with all the suitcases!!) We were really lucky to have Eric, Kitty & the girls able to get a 'pass' and walk us to our gate. I am so glad i read the airline's web-site from front to back,... because of this, they were able to come beyond the check point.
I also have to thank them ... so the whole world know show much i appreciate all the dinners and hang out time. It made the last few days in VA special!!!

Attached are pictures of our kids, and... the last moments for a long time.
TG for web cam and Vonage!!!

We are all packed up

We packed all our stuff up on Tuesday & Wednesday.
We were supposed to clean all Thursday, but it was already clean (amazing) and all it needed was a good wipe down. (Thanks Jasmine & Kitty for all your help!!) Because we did not need to clean all day, we gave our keys a day early.
Here are a few pictures from those days.
The little girl in the picture is my neighbor's daughter, Nina... Adorable!!

More Pictures

We checked in at Gateway Inn's & Suite's. It's a Military Hotel of sorts. I will stay with them from now on, and so will my family. We enjoyed ourselves so very much, it was awesome!!!
We stayed at this hotel while our HHG were packed out, and during our last few days.
It was a 2 room suite... as i am sitting here in Yokosuka ... BELIEVE ME... i wish we were in that room........ Ah!! So nice!!
I guess i should add it was only 35$ a night, no taxes or fee's!!! For 35$.......... very nice!!!

A few photos...

We have Arrived

I am sitting her in my hotel, in Japan typing this ...
What a crazy few days!!!
We left the USA Saturday October 4th at 10:30 am from VA. We flew to Washington D.C. on a small airplane ... yuck!!
We boarded a big ole' Jet at about 12:30~12:45 pm with destination Narita International.
Everything went off with-out a hitch. We arrived at Narita 3:30 pm Tokyo time on Sunday.
The kids were good (on the airplane) and the food was ok... and we came to the hotel with all 6 checked bags and 2 car seats!!!
I am happy.
The only thing is... it's raining tonight, and although i love rain, ... i really wanted to be able to look around, and it was hard with all the rain.
The kids and Ethan are all sleeping, and i am up... not tired, just my legs.

More to come, and pictures of course.
